Saturday, 18th August 2012 Drive from Nyalam to Saga and Overnight stay at Saga
After breakfast we started our drive to Saga. From here onwards we were served packed lunch with the exception on the day we trekked for acclimatization. Also you have to be satisfied with open air comfort stations to satisfy your nature’s calls. First time you may be a bit embarrassed but then it will become routine for you. Starting from Manasarovar you will only have open air toilets for both number one and number two. So you have to complete it before the sun rise and preferable and advisable to do it at around 4 or 5 in the morning. Make sure you are not going out alone. Wolves like dogs are there in most of the places. We are told they are harmful also. So never go without your walking stick and torch. You may just see one dog then all of a sudden you will see a pack of dogs and you are not sure where from they are coming and where they were hiding. They look ferocious also.
Tibetan Plateaus are so panoramic and the entire drive through the straight road is a pleasure. Of course Kamini and Paxa used to pack enough snacks for all the five of us. The nuts and cranberry I used to carry were untouched most of the days. It was a long drive for over eight hours. But the Mount Himalaya view from Tibetan Plateau is very panoramic and extremely beautiful. Many a times you will be astounded by the magic of nature. Though we are covering only about two hundred and fifty miles today you are also climbing up another two to three thousand feet to an altitude of about fourteen thousand plus feet. At some points you might have gone up to over sixteen thousand six hundred feet high altitude at Lalung La high passes.
